CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA

Cannon Park

Coming from La Costa take I-5 north, exit Cannon Road and go west, it’s on the corner of the 101 and Cannon Road, it is on the right side. 

Hidden Canyon Park

Take Carlsbad Village Drive east of El Camino to Concord.  At Concord make a left.  Go straight.  At Vancouver (dead end) make a left.  Park is on your immediate left.

Aviara Community Park

The park includes picnic areas, a large tot lot, and a baseball/softball field. The 14-acre former agricultural site resides in the Aviara community and is surrounded by 10 acres of a natural coastal sage environment with rolling hills and panoramic views to the south and the east. (Phase Two, a community center building, is anticipated to be built sometime between 2008 and 2010).The park is located at the intersection of Poinsettia Lane and Ambrosia Lane.

Calavera Hills Community Park

New tot lot equipment and four swings, but a bit crowded in the mornings since preschool uses playground. Restrooms, benches, and tables are available. 2997 Glasgow Drive (corner of east Carlsbad Village Drive and Glasgow Drive; next to community Center).

Cannon Park

Brand new tot lot equipment (pretty big stuff for under 2 crowd) with basket ball court, drinking fountain, great place to start/end exercise walk along beach boardwalk. Carlsbad Blvd. and Cannon Road near the Pacific Ocean.

Holiday Park

Heavily shaded park (a bit noisy) with tot lot and swings, tables, benches, restrooms. 3224 Eureka Place (next to 5 freeway at Chestnut and Pio Pico just south of Carlsbad Village Drive).

Hosp Grove Park

Older play equipment that kids love to climb, tire swing, and table but no restrooms. Use caution near ducks and geese - they are aggressive and tall and like to swarm kids if you try to feed. Jefferson and Monroe (just east of 5 and south of 78, near Michaels/Olive Garden shopping center).

La Costa Canyon Park

Shaded park with two sets of tot equipment and swings, restrooms, benches, tables, and basketball court. Take La Costa Avenue east from El Camino, left on Quinta, right on Del Rey, and left on Pueblo, park is on right.

Laguna Rivera Park

Two sets of tot equipment, restrooms, benches, basketball court, and tables. Take El Camino Real North, Left on Kelly; park on corner of Kelly and Park Drive (East of Aqua Hedionda Lagoon).

Poinsettia Park

Two sets of tot equipment, restrooms and tables, but no swings. Address: 6600 hidden Valley Rd. Take Aviara Parkway north towards Palomar Airport Road, left on Camino De Los Ondas, right on Hidden Valley Rd., (near Pacific Rim Elementary).

Stagecoach Park

One large set of tot equipment, a stagecoach for climbing, swings, restrooms, and benches. Address: 3420 Camino Del Los Coches (East of Rancho Santa Fe near Community Center and La Costa Canyon High School).

SAN MARCOS, CALIFORNIA

Famous for having water related items at their parks, almost all have restrooms, and always tables. Park information found at:

Mulberry Park

Restrooms, two play areas, picnic tables, a large grass area and a spray area for children. The park is located on Mulberry in San Marcos (near the new development Olive Estates), off of Mission Road near the Hollandia Dairy.

San Elijo Park and Spray ground:

FROM LA COSTA: La Costa Blvd to Rancho Sante Fe Rd. turn left. Turn
right on San Elijo Road. Left on Elfin Forrest Road. Two blocks down on right is parking lot.

FROM WEST CARLSBAD: Take 78 East to Rancho Sante Fe Road, turn right. Take to San Elijo Road turn left. Left on Elfin Forrest Road. Two blocks down on right is parking lot.

Jack's Pond Park

Large new tot lot, restroom, tables, nature center, hiking to pond. Take 78 east, exit Barham Drive, east on Barham (drive parallel with 78), right on La Moree, park address is 900 La Moree Road.

Lakeview Park and Discovery lake

Small tot lot, train for climbing, restrooms, fountain for wading in (seasonal), tables, lake, ducks, hiking trail. From Rancho Santa Fe, take San Marcos Blvd east, right on Craven/Bent, right on Foxhall, park at end of street.

Woodland Park

Woodland Park is located at the corner of Woodland Parkway and Rock Springs Roads (off the 78 fwy) in San Marcos. Play structure, bathrooms, pond with ducks and picnic tables.

Los Posas Park and Aquatic Center

Spray ground (kind of like Leoland's), water play area, shallow kids play area, hot showers, lockers. Take Rancho Santa Fe north of 78 until it dead ends, right on South Santa Fe Ave., left on Las Posas and right on Borden.

Simmons Family Park

Two tot lots, restrooms, benches, basketball court, tables (a bit far from play area). Address: 2180 Rocky Point Way. Take Rancho Santa Fe north, past Melrose, left on Island Dr. (signal), left on Rocky Point.

Walnut Grove Park and Williams Barn

Tot lot, tire swing, tables under shelter, horse arenas, barn. Take 78 east, exit Twin Oaks Valley Rd., north on Twin oaks Valley Rd., right on Olive, park is on the left.

Woodland Park and Aquatic Center

Tot Lots, swings, two pools, waterslide, shallow kids swim area, picnic areas, historic wood house. Take 78 East, exit Barham Drive, East on Barham (drive parallel with 78), left on Woodland Parkway, right on Rock Springs Road.

ENCINITAS

Famous for having picnic tables at every park but rarely a restroom! Park info found at: http://www.ci.encinitas.ca.us/Resident/

Cottonwood Creek Park

Super new park with a number of large tot lots, swings, climbing and water features. Restrooms, benches. Encinitas Boulevard west, just before Vulcan.

Encinitas Viewpoint park

Tot lot, no restrooms. Address: Cornish Drive and D street. Take Encinitas Blvd toward ocean, left on Vulcan (street before Pacific Coast highway), left on D street, park is on the left at Cornish Drive.

Rancho Ponderosa Park

Rancho Ponderosa Park on La Marcarena is one of two resident's parks in
the Rancho Ponderosa community. It has swings, a tot lot, picnic tables,
some shade, and lots of room to run. No bathrooms.

Glen Park

2149 Orinda Drive. A Cardiff neighbourhood park. Play structure on sand, so sand toys are a plus. Lots of space to run around, and have a lovely picnic
with a breeze.

Sun Vista park

Sun Vista is on the corner of Rancho Santa Fe and Avenida La Posta in Encinitas. It has swings, a play structure and a couple of bouncy ride on things, as well as a very large open grass space. There are no restrooms, but other than that it's a cute neighborhood park with a shaded picnic table area...

George Berkich Park

Tot lot, picnic areas, no restrooms (Cardiff School District Site). Address: 1888 Montgomery. Take Pacific Coast Highway south towards Cardiff, left on Birmingham, left on San Elijo to Montgomery, park is on the right.

Glen Park

Large tot lot, swings, basketball court, benches, tables, restrooms. Address: 2149 Orinda Drive. Take Pacific Coast Highway south towards Cardiff, left on Birmingham, right on San Elijo, park is on the left at Orinda Drive.

Hawk View Park

One large tot climbing area, no swings, no restrooms, many tables. Address: 1309 Blue Heron Drive. From La Costa Avenue flower stand, take Saxony south, left on Quail Hallow Drive, left on Swallowtail Road.

Leo Mullen Sports park (otherwise known as "Target park")

One large tot lot, four swings, basket ball court, restrooms, benches. Address: 951 Via Cantebria, across from Target and Home Depot, next door to Chili's Restaurant.

Leucadia Oaks Park

New play equipment, benches, tables, basketball court, no restrooms. Take La Costa Avenue toward the ocean (west), right before Pacific Coast Highway, turn left on Vulcan, turn left on Sanford, park on left.

Mildred Macpherson Park

Large tot lot, tables, benches, view of trains and ocean, no restrooms. Address: 1045 South Vulcan. Take Encinitas Blvd towards the ocean, left on Vulcan (street before Pacific Coast Highway), park on left at I street.

Moonlight Beach Park

Brand new tot lot overlooking the ocean. Beach, restrooms, outdoor showers, volleyball sand courts. Take Encinitas Boulevard west to the ocean which ends at the park. Park on residential streets.

Oakcrest Park

Tot lot, restrooms. Address: 1219 Encinitas Blvd. From El Camino Real, west on Encinitas Blvd, left on Melba (park entrance just west of McDonalds and directly across from BMW Dealership).).

Orpheus Park

Large tot lot, benches, tables, great view of trains, no restroom. Address: 482 Orpheus Avenue. From El Camino Real, take Leucadia Blvd. west, as you travel across freeway bridge, turn left after gas station onto Orpheus Avenue. The park is about 1 mile on the right.

Scott Valley Park rk

Tot lot, balance beams, basketball courts, biking/scooter paths, benches, tables, no restrooms. From El Camino Real, east on Olivenhain, right on Armagosa, right on Willowhaven, park is at the end of the street.

Sun Vista Park rk

One large tot climbing area and four swings, no restrooms, many tables. Take Rancho Santa Fe south towards Olivehain, right Avenida la Posta/Calle Acervo (near Pioneer Elementary)

Wiro Park

Small tot lot, swings, tables, benches, no restrooms. Address: 2232 El Camino De Norte. Take Rancho Santa Fe south into Olivehain, turn right on El Camino Del Norte, park at top of hill on right.
