Do we have fun? You betcha! A couple of our recent field trips included a trip to The Wild Animal Park for the Butterflies and Orchids Event, and a morning at Playwerx in Carlsbad helped get all our wiggles out! And let's not forget the social events - the Welcome Party was a huge success, the Family Super Bowl party, Valentine's Day and Spring Egg Hunt parties were great fun!
Over the years, the members La Costa Moms have chosen Becky’s House as a deserving cause for our fundraising and donation efforts. Becky's House is an 18-month transitional housing program operated by the YWCA of San Diego County for women who are survivors of domestic violence and their children. In 2007, the members of La Costa Moms joined together to “adopt” one of the 14 residential apartments at the newly-opened Becky’s House 2. We generally host two events per year to benefit Becky’s House – in the past, these have included a Garage Sale (raised $700), a “Shower” where we collected new house wares (dishes, linens, appliances, etc), a Holiday Charity Auction (raised $4000), and an Art Supply Drive.
La Costa Moms is organized by the dedicated efforts of eleven Board of Directors and many volunteers. Directors serve for in a specific role for 1 year and meet each month. Meetings are open to all members. And even though we have a wonderful group of Directors and volunteers, we always welcome new faces!! |
